I was introduced to the Q-Switched Laser Treatment by Dr. Hsu from The DRx Clinic, and a week from undergoing the treatment, I must say that i'm very impressed with the results.

I was always bothered by all the freckles and pigmentation spots on my nose since I was young because I enjoyed sports like swimming, running and I basically loved the sun. One mistake I really regretted was to not bother with sun protection then. Sigh.
Just look at the photo above, I think I was 15 years old then? Super tanned, with super bad skin. I'm sorry if i grossed you out, please scroll further!

I was introduced to the Q-Switched Laser Treatment by Dr. Hsu from The DRx Clinic, and a week from undergoing the treatment, I must say that i'm very impressed with the results.

Here's the description of the treatment taken off The DRx Clinic's website:

DESCRIPTION
Q-Switched Lasers are used for treating pigmentations. It is one of the most technologically advanced lasers that is FDA approved for the removal of both superficial and deep hyper-pigmented conditions. The device delivers clinical laser quickly with intense energy. The laser pulse is absorbed by melanin, thus breaking down the pigments into smaller fragments and eliminated by the body’s natural lymphatic system. It is an effective tool for pigmentation treatment and also for facial rejuvenation, to minimize pores and decrease the appearance of fine lines and even out skin tone.

The procedure took only 30 minutes, and it felt like having little sparks hit against your skin. Almost painless and it got pretty therapeutic after a few minutes LOL. I would personally rate the pain to be 0.5/10 because pain is definitely not a concern for this treatment!

This treatment is recommended for people faced with:

  • Pigmented conditions (freckles, sunspots, melasma,
    Hori’s nevus, post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation)
  • Acne pigmented marks
  • Skin rejuvenation
  • Tattoo removal
As promised, I recorded the progress of my freckles every day. The above collage shows the different days and if you're wondering why my spots look darker a few days after the treatment, it's normal !

- Do expect small little red marks on the spots after the treatment, but these will go away.
- Spots will darken over the next few days, but they are nothing concealer can't fix
- Micro peeling will happen shortly after a few days, mine started to peel on Day 5 - 6
- Tadah! Spots will lighten. Depending on how dark your pigmentation spots are, you may need more than one session to get spots lightened to your liking.

Overall, the procedure was very fuss free and the after-care didn't bother me too much either. Since I have already been including sun protection (sunscreen, UV umbrellas) in my everyday routine, I didn't have to go out of my way to care for my spots after this treatment.
I was just advised to apply a thicker layer of sunscreen and more moisturiser, that's all!

A big thank you to The DRx Clinic for taking care of my freckles and skin. I'm so happy to finally have most of them cleared! For more information, visit The DRx Clinic at:
